Preparing Teachers to Prevent Adolescent
Dating Violence

We are currently partnering with PREVNet and Shift: The Project to End Domestic Violence to prepare pre-service teachers to prevent adolescent dating violence once they are in the classroom. First, we are evaluating the inclusion of dating violence prevention content in a mandatory comprehensive school health course. We will explore how the inclusion of this content impacts teachers’ dating violence knowledge, beliefs, and prevention confidence. We are also evaluating a symposium series for pre-service teachers which took a social justice and children’s rights approach to understanding dating violence prevention.
